Mouthguard and Night Guard/Splint

We only get one set of adult teeth so it’s important to protect them at all times. While everyone is susceptible to accidents and injuries of the mouth, people who are involved in contact sports and engage in physical activities face a higher risk than most. We make mouthguards that are customized to fit and to protect your teeth, gums, lips, jaw, and lower skull. There are a variety of materials that can be used for a mouthguard depending on every individual’s needs and choices.

What is a Nightguard? Why is it needed? How difficult it is to wear?

A night guard or an occlusal splint is a type of mouthguard that is custom fabricated for an individual to wear at night to prevent upper and lower teeth from grinding against each other. A splint can also be used to guide jaws in right directions to relieve pressure from the jaws and soft tissues. Clenching and Bruxism are ways of grinding teeth down and can cause jaw problems, headache, bite problems, stressed muscles. It happens unknowingly during the sleep which makes it difficult for a person to prevent it and that’s why night guard is needed. Stress is a common reason for teeth grinding. If you wake up with sore jaws, headache or your dentist or hygienist notice changes in the shape of your teeth, that points to teeth grinding.

Nightguard is just like a new pair of shoes that can take some time to get used to with. It is very easy to insert, remove and clean. Let us help you protect your teeth from grinding down!!
